Board to consider teacher contracts

Trustees have full agenda for May 13 meeting

    With teacher contract negotiations expected to end today, May, 9, the Blaine County School District board of trustees will consider approval of an agreement with the Blaine County Education Association at its next regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 13.
   Negotiations with the teachers’ union started last week, were resumed on Thursday and were expected to be concluded today. The union is expected to vote on the agreement late Monday afternoon.
   Consideration of the contract is one of numerous items on the agenda for the May 13 meeting. It starts at 6 p.m. at the district office at 118 West Bullion St. in Hailey. The meeting will be preceded by a 4:30 p.m. executive session.
   For the regular meeting, the board will consider extension of contracts for 14 principals, vice principals and certified administrators. The board will also consider proposals for new carpet and tile at Hemingway Elementary School, will further discuss and possibly approve a plan for addition of a non-voting student to the board and will consider a request from Syringa Mountain School for its students to ride district buses.
