Katie Peters and Sheldon Gentling competed in the Boise Ice Classic April 5, capturing six medals for the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club (SVFSC).

Competing against more advanced skaters in the largest competitive group, Peters, a Community School eighth grader, defeated four other skaters to win the combined Open Juvenile/ Intermediate/Novice Artistic event.

Peters also took bronze in Open Juvenile/Juvenile Free Skate and was awarded gold for her performance skating alone in Open Juvenile/Juvenile Compulsory Moves.

Gentling, a Community School fifth grader, won gold medals in Preliminary Free Skate and Preliminary Artistic, and she took silver in Preliminary Compulsory Moves.

Boise Ice Classic offered small competitive groups averaging two to three skaters.

Also in Boise, the Boise Figure Skating Club hosted a U.S. Figure Skating test session.

Sun Valley’s Grace Cleveland passed Juvenile Moves in the Field. Murphy Kendall passed pre-bronze dance tests, Cha Cha and Fiesta Tango.

Coach Lisa-Marie Allen accompanied the skaters to Boise and served as the Technical Specialist for the competition.

The SVFSC will soon begin preparations for its largest annual competition, the Sun Valley Summer Figure Skating Championships July 24-27. Also, SVFSC will host USFS test sessions Aug. 3 and Aug. 31.
