Police investigate tire slashing

Damage to 5 vehicles estimated at $3,000

Express Staff Writer

The Bellevue Marshal’s Office and Hailey Police Department are investigating a rash of tire slashings that occurred Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning in Bellevue.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter, whose agency is contracted to provide law enforcement services for the city of Bellevue, said Thursday that five separate vehicles were vandalized by tire slashing. All of the incidents occurred on the east side of Bellevue in or near the Sunrise subdivision.

“Interestingly, all the vehicles were larger vehicles; two vans and the sports utility vehicles,” Gunter said. “One or two tires were slashed per vehicle; there were a total of nine slashed tires with an estimated replacement value of more than $3,000.

Gunter asked that anyone with information on the vandalism contact the Bellevue Marshal’s Office at (208) 788-3692.
