Valley Co-op nearing completion

City allows changes to accommodate large motor vehicles

The Bellevue Planning and Zoning commission voted unanimously Monday, April 7, to approve a new 1,400-square-foot fueling station canopy to cover diesel pumps for larger vehicles, including motor homes and trucks, at the Valley Co-op retail center and gas station at the south end of Main Street.
   The gas station and convenience store are currently in operation, but undergoing a remodel.
   The 15,000-square-foot portion of the building that was formerly used as a bowling alley will be used as a retail sales area, inventory storage-receiving area and a restaurant. That portion of the building is scheduled for completion by the end of summer, said Bellevue Planning Director Craig Eckles.
   The commission also voted Monday to approve a site for a propane dispenser and seven light poles to illuminate the parking lot.
    The renovation and expansion of the existing gas station and convenience store is being conducted by Valley Co-op Stores, a company based in Jerome with five similar stores in southern Idaho.
    The Valley Co-op store will sell clothing, shoes, hardware, lawn and garden equipment, farm supplies, seasonal merchandise, fuel, convenience-store merchandise, beverages and sporting goods.
