Hattabaugh climbs halfpipe podium at Copper

SVSEF racer succeeds in Colorado

     The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation boasted another podium finisher Tuesday, April 8 at the United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) national free ski championships in Colorado.

     Boise’s Trevor Hattabaugh made the six-man final of the 18-skier Open Skier Men’s halfpipe competition at Copper Mountain and ended up in third place overall with 81.50 points. Hattabaugh competes for the SVSEF Freeski squad.

     Winner was Broby Leeds of Vail, Co. (92.50), with Park City’s Colby Stevenson (86.25) taking second place. Leeds won $1,000 for his effort, Stevenson $500 and Hattabaugh $250.

     On Saturday, Justin “Juice” Kennedy of Boise and the SVSEF had a nice run and a big payday of $1,000 at Copper Mountain. Kennedy won the 20-racer Open Skier Men’s class Rail Jam on the first day of the USASA freeski finals.
