Jackson Hole, Park City host U-16, U-14 final races

Alpine U-12 teams announced season awards


     Season-ending championship events last weekend brought 27 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation U-16 (ages 14-15) and U-14 (12-13) alpine racers to Jackson Hole (Wyo.) Mountain Resort and Park City (Utah) Mountain Resort.

     Top SVSEF result was Wyatt Minor’s 1.70-second giant slalom victory in Saturday’s U-14 Tri-Divisional Championships on CB’s run at Park City. At the same event, Molly Milgard podiumed twice with third in giant slalom and third in the super giant slalom.

     At the Western Region U-16 Championships, Yuri McClure finished sixth and fourth of 90 racers in super giant slalom. Sebastian Mastor cracked the top-10 with ninth in slalom while Sage Rheinschild (12-SG, 13-SG) was the leading woman.

     SVSEF had 17 skiers among the 162 racers at Park City, while the Sun Valley group numbered 10 of the 168 contestants racing at Jackson Hole. In the Jackson results, the first SG was a championship event, the second non-championship.

     Class placings for SVSEF by day (SG super G, GS giant slalom, SL slalom) were:

     U-16 boys at Jackson Hole: Yuri McClure 4-SG, 6-SG, DNF-GS, 28-SL; John Blackburn 24-SG, 18-SG, 17-GS, 20-SL; Noah Leininger 36-SG, 21-SG, 28-GS, 31-SL; Duncan Fuller 17-SG, DNF-SG, 13-SG, DNF-SL; Sebastian Mastor DNF-SG, 12-SG, 16-GS, 8-SL; Kristian DeWolfe 22-SG, DNF-SG, DNF-GS, 47-SL; Cooper Dart 26-SG, DNF-GS, DNF-SL; Wyatt Smith 43-SG, 38-SG, 40-GS, 45-SL; Will Snyder 11-SG, DNF-SG, DQ-GS, DNF-SL.

     U-16 girls: Sage Rheinschild 12-SG, 13-SG, DNF-GS, DNF-SL; Royce Rheinschild 17-SG, 27-GS, DQ-SL; Margot Griffith 55-SG, 39-GS, 25-SL; Ava Mazzoni DNF-SG, 31-SG, 54-GS, DNF-SL.

    · Top SVSEF dual slalom placings during the 185-racer U-12 (ages 8-11) Intermountain Division Championships at Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyo. March 14-16 were: 1—Jessica Blackburn (U10). 2—Hannah Ferris (U10). 3—Tatum Minor (U10) and Fletcher Stumph (U12). 4—Sage Curtis (U12).

    · Leading Mini World Cup individuals this year were: 1—Jessica Blackburn and Connor Campbell. 2—Hannah Ferris and Ben Goitiandia. 3—Saba Grossman and Joe Goitiandia. 4—Tatum Minor and Shaw McCoubrey. 5—Paige DeHart and Axel Hattrup.

    · U-12 Travel Team award winners were: Most Improved—Emma Madsen and Ethan Marx. Most Inspirational—Marit Kaiser and Nathan Gowe. Coaches Awards—Sage Holter and Josh Blackburn.

     · U-12 Home Team award winners were: Most Improved—Gillian Simcoe and Skye Leininger. Most Inspirational—Paige DeHart and Shaw McCoubrey. Coaches Awards—Laci Jermunson and Kyle Cohen.
