Sun Valley Resort has announced tentative ski-area closing dates of Sunday, April 6, for Dollar Mountain and Sunday, April 20, for Bald Mountain. The dates are subject to change based on weather and snow conditions.
Resort spokesman Jack Sibbach said a pond-skimming contest is still planned for the last day of operations at Dollar, but it could be held sooner or cancelled, depending on conditions.
“We certainly would like to have it,” he said.
The Roundhouse restaurant will close for the season on Sunday, March 23. The last dinner will be served Saturday night and the last lunch on Sunday.
Sun Valley is offering discounted lodging and lift tickets for spring skiers and snowboarders. Beginning Sunday, March 30, a spring package offers one night of lodging and a lift ticket for $81 per person, based on double occupancy, Sundays through Thursdays, and $85 per person Fridays and Saturdays.
The Spring Triple Play package is now offering college students a three-day lift ticket for $143.
The “late” portion of the resort’s Flex Plus pass begins Monday, March 24.
On Saturday, March 29, rock musician Cisco Adler and funk band Cherry Royale will perform at a free concert at River Run from 1:30-5:30 p.m.
Sun Valley is reporting snow depths of 55 inches at the summit, 48 inches at mid mountain and 41 inches at the base, with a season snowfall total of 141 inches.

Closed lift reopens
The Christmas chairlift on the upper portion of Bald Mountain reopened on Thursday, March 20, after being shut down earlier in the week because of mechanical problems. The lift provides access from the Roundhouse area to the summit of Baldy.
