The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a medical trailer earlier this month from a parking lot at St. Luke’s Wood River hospital south of Ketchum.
Sheriff Gene Ramsey on Monday described the item stolen as a “mass casualty trailer” that is used by St. Luke’s staff to provide medical care at various large events.
The trailer was reported stolen on March 13. However, Ramsey said video surveillance of the parking lot shows that it was actually stolen on March 8. He said the surveillance also shows a man in a pickup truck checking out the trailer before hitching it to his vehicle and driving it away.
“We don’t have enough evidence to make an arrest,” Ramsey said. “We have a suspect, but we haven’t been able to tie it down yet.”
Ramsey said the trailer and its contents are worth about $50,000. He said contents included miscellaneous medical equipment, a generator, an isolation cart, an inflatable shelter, a tent cart, three surgical beds, a propane heater and an air conditioner.
He said there was no narcotic medicine inside the trailer.
