Picks made for All-Conference hoops

In Northside, Great Basin


     Local prep basketball players and coaches were honored last week with the announcement of Great Basin Conference 4A boys’ and girls’ All-League teams and Northside Conference 1A Division 2 boys’ All-League selections.

     Tying for “Coach of the Year” for the Northside boys were Dick Simpson of State 1A Division 2 consolation champion Carey High School, Mike Payne of The Community School in Sun Valley and Garr Ward of the Richfield Tigers.

     Blaine County’s only first-team All-Conference picks were Carey junior guard Nate Adamson and sophomore Panther post Joe Parke.

     Adamson averaged 19.1 ppg during Carey’s 16-11 campaign and pitched in with a 26.0 ppg average at the state tournament. In his second season, Parke (15.1 ppg) has 21 double-digit games, as did Adamson.

     Joining Adamson and Parke on the first team were Trey Dill of Dietrich, Coy Surrett of Castleford and Jacob Dalton of Dietrich.

     Community School senior Taylor Adler (15.2 ppg) led the second team after climbing into fourth place in the ranks of all-time Cutthroat scorers were 693 points (10.3 ppg) over four seasons.

     Joining Adler on the second team were Vance Perron and Austin Fenstermaker of  Dietrich, and Lino Rivas and Zak Wood of Richfield.

     In the Great Basin, Wood River junior Rory Cole (7.6 ppg) made the second team of the girls’ All-Conference squad while three Hailey boys earned honorable mention for boys’ All-League. They were senior Eron Bates (8.7 ppg), junior Cody Carter (9.4 ppg) and sophomore Alec Nordsieck (8.0 ppg).

     The Twin Falls Bruins, State 4A boys’ champ and State 4A girls’ runner-up with 22-4 and 23-3 records, led the top GBC awards with Matt Harr and Nancy Jones selected as “Coaches of Year,” and seniors Kaitlyn Merritt and Casdon Jardine “Players of the Year.”
