Shred stays ahead in SV Town Series

Final race is March 19

Greatful Shred posted another great scoring day with a 0.66 Wednesday and stretched its lead in the 23rd annual Sun Valley Town Series staged in hard snow conditions on Baldy’s Cozy ski run.

One of only four of the 31 four-racer teams scoring under 1.00 Wednesday, Greatful Shred extended its lead by nearly a point and stays in the driver’s seat of team ranks going into the final event Wednesday, March 19.

Greatful Shred with John Summers, Jerry Mitchell, James Shannon and Randi DuBois has a six-week score of 2.34 in the dual modified giant slaloms. In second place with 4.99 is Sturtevants Mountain Ferries with Joe Atwood, William Fallon, Jena Greaser and Curt Williams.

All 4 All is in third place with 6.09, Shot Skis used a 0.00 Wednesday for fourth place at 6.37 and Casino Dancing Bears is fifth with 7.42.

The names of 20 racers from the top five teams in the series are entered into a drawing for the grand prize of four Sun Valley 2014-2015 season ski passes. That drawing occurs at the last Town Series race party March 19 at Whiskey Jacques.

Format is combined two runs next Wednesday. But the format was best single runs Wednesday, and leaders out of 102 contestants in the field, in seconds and hundredths:

     1—Miles Fink-Debray (DTF) 22.63. 2—Robin Sarchett (DTF) 23.10. 3—Joe Atwood (Sturtevants Mountain Ferries) 23.92. 4—Carl Rixon Jr. (SVSEF) 23.94. 5—Tyler Chandler (SVSEF) 24.07. 6—Nate Schwing (SVSEF) 24.29. 7—John Campbell (Glow Fast) 24.73. 8—Brett Jacobson (Shot Skis) 24.91. 9—Erika Hogan (SVSEF) 25.00. 10—William Fallon (Sturtevants Mountain Ferries) 25.42.

Rabbits in the middle of the pack were Alex Jackson (Chicks on Sticks) with 32.98 and Bob Buchanan (The Kings) with 33.04.
