Munchkin skiers bomb Dollar

By WILLY COOK

Approximately 300 kids between the ages of 3 and 12 skied their fastest on three age-determined courses Sunday on Dollar Mountain for the 58th running of the Kindercup. Parents, siblings, friends and volunteers lined the courses shouting supportive exclamations. Longtime starter and organizer Doran Key, like many other volunteers, loves the Kindercup and its legacy. “The reward of difficult organization is allowing me to be the starter of so much cuteness,” Key said. Top, Lili Nicholson competed in the 3-year-old-girls division and finished with a time of 17 seconds. Middle, showing gold medal form, 6-year-old Tucker Smith won the boys 6- and 7-year-old category with a fine time of 23.77 on the middle course. Bottom left, another 3-year-old girl competing was Fiona Neville, who exhibited fine color-coordinated wedge form. Bottom right, 7-year-old Sasha Stahoski was quite a fashion statement coming down the middle-course in a time of 40.72. She even snuck a peek at her approving mom on the side of the course.
