Funds for the annual symposium of experts on breast cancer are generated in many ways including the annual hikes for Inspiration Expedition.

    Bring your breast questions to the Limelight Room this week and hear from the leading experts in the field of breast cancer research.
   The public is invited to attend a free breast cancer open forum at the Sun Valley Inn, Thursday, March 13, from 5:30-7 p.m. The title of the forum is “Estrogen and Breast Cancer—The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”
   Guest speakers are Suzanne A.W. Fuqua, Ph.D., of Baylor College of Medicine, and Susan Hankinson, Ph.D, of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
   The forum is offered in conjunction with Expedition Inspiration’s Laura Evans Memorial Breast Cancer Symposium, held today through March 16.
   “Though the researchers specialize in breast cancer, the open forum has relevance for all individuals affected by cancer, regardless of the specific kind of cancer they are surviving,” said breast cancer survivor Suzanne Pere-Mulenos. “The progress investigators have made in breast cancer research has translated to improved treatment options for many, many other kinds of cancers.”
   The symposium, held under the guidance of Marc Lippman, M.D., and Angela DeMichele, M.D., M.S.C.E., is an invitation-only conference that encourages the free exchange of current breast cancer research and ideas. Attendees include basic scientists, clinical investigators and practicing clinicians. The attendees have intense working sessions to share unpublished information, analyze breakthroughs, recognize hurdles to finding a cure and discuss advances in treatment. After the symposium, attendees continue to pool information and develop new cross-country clinical trials.
