Show the dimensions of the transit hub

   Out of an abundance of common sense, let me propose a day of hands-on information and participation in the design of the intersection Transit Hub at Sun Valley Road and East Avenue in Ketchum.
   Let us ask Jason Miller and the design crew to demonstrate the proposed hub configuration to the citizens of Ketchum with sandbags, bollards and story poles. The project would outline the four so-called “bulbout” corners of the intersection with sandbags and bollards, mark the shortened pedestrian walkway, and show the placement of art and trees in the center of the street with story poles. This is often done to show the height and position of new buildings, so why not provide equal opportunity for scrutiny of changes to such an important intersection?
   We are told this is an unsafe corner. We are also told that it takes too long to cross the street. Consulting is a business of selling ideas and solutions. Some are good, and some, not so good. Call it what you will, this is a major Sun Valley Road intersection, second only to Main Street, and is essential for a smooth flow of traffic—now more than ever with added bus circulation.
   We can save ourselves a lot of complaining about traffic congestion during the high season if we participate now with an on-site physical demonstration of the Transit Hub design proposal.
