58th Kindercup is coming March 9

Arkoosh Cup at Rotarun this Sunday

In their sixth decade of providing memories for kids and their parents, the Kindercup non-sanctioned alpine ski races sponsored by the Papoose Club community service organization are fast approaching.

The 58th annual Kindercup is scheduled for Sunday, March 9 on Dollar Mountain. Primary sponsors are Smith Optics, US Bank and Power Engineers.

The Kindercup offers ski and snowboard racers ages 3-12 a chance to run gates on Dollar Mountain. Each year it attracts up to 250 skiers. Most famously, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street got her start racing in the Kindercup.

Registration on the bottom floor of Carol’s Dollar Mountain Cabin is from 8:30-9:30 a.m., with racing at 10:15 a.m. Racing is free of charge, but donations are accepted. Costumes are encouraged. Awards ceremony is at 12:30 p.m.

The Wood River Valley tradition is staged by the Papoose Club supported by Sun Valley Company, Sun Valley Race Department and Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation coaches.

Parents should sign up in advance and might consider volunteering on race day.

To become involved, contact event chair Louise Isaacs at spacemom@svskylan.net or call her at 720-5931. Download the registration form at papooseclub.org and avoid lines on race day. To volunteer, visit vols.pt/BM9vid.

The Papoose Club was founded in 1954 by local mothers and was incorporated as a non-profit in 1975. The organization supports local youth-oriented groups through fundraising activities and events.
