IMD freestyle finals staged on Dollar, Baldy

Utah squads join SVSEF for weekend

     Intermountain Divisional Freestyle Championships came to Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain and Baldy’s Roundhouse Slope Feb. 21-23.

     There were 64 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation freestyle skiers in the field. Joining them were skiers on teams from Wasatch Freestyle, Axis Freestyle, Whitepass, Park City, Bridger, Ogden and Fly Freestyle.

     SVSEF Freestyle Prep/Devo coach Jennifer Diehl said, “We are grateful to Sun Valley Company and all the coaches, parents and volunteers who helped make this event a success.”

     Leading SVSEF in Sunday’s dual moguls (DM) were Zac Maricich-Siele (3rd overall) and Renee Shapiro (4th).

     Single moguls (M) class winners included Wyatt Wilson, Maricich-Siele (2nd overall twice), Renee Shapiro, Wilson Dunn, Alex LaFleur, Gage Wilson, Hunter Diehl, Astrid Murray and Addy Rafford.

     Halfpipe (HP) class winners from the SVSEF included Jacob Beebe, who also won Slopestyle (SS), along with Hannah Blackwell, Aloe Orison, Harper Mallet and Cole Curci. Slopestyle class winners were Axel Diehl, George Murray, Lucas Carlson and Maya Lightner.

     SVSEF class finishes by event were:

     M1 (ages 17-18): Hayes Gilman 3-HP, 3-SS; and Wyatt Wilson 1-M (4th overall), 7-DM.

     M2 (15-16): Trey Potter 2-HP, 3-SS; Noa Hecht 3-HP, 4-SS; Zach Siele-Maricich 1-M and 1-M (2nd/2nd overall), 3-DM; and Jack Rizzo 3-M and 3-M (6th/7th overall), 5-DM.

     F2: Renee Shapiro 1-M and 1-M (2nd/2nd overall), 4-DM. Parker Nance (8-DM) also competed in single moguls.

     M3 (13-14): Jacob Beebe 1-HP (1st overall), 1-SS (1st overall); Will Griffith 2-HP; Wilson Dunn 1-M and 3-M (7th/9th overall), 6-DM; Alex LaFleur 2-M and 1-M (8th/6th overall), 8-DM; Ian Thomas 3-HP; and Tobias Verheijen 2-M (8th overall). Others in HP were Eli Roberts and Wilder Curtis. Others in SS were Freddie Grathwohl, Wilder Curtis, Will Griffith and Eli Roberts. Others in single moguls were Tobias Verheijen and Blake Harmon. Tobias Verheijen also competed in dual moguls.

     F3: Hannah Blackwell 1-HP (3rd overall), 2-SS; Aloe Orison 2-M and 1-M (9th/6th overall), 7-DM; and Devon Brown 3-M and 3-M (19th overall). Devon Brown also competed in DM.

    M4 (11-12): Ethan Duran 2-HP, Chris Pederson 3-HP, 3-SS, Axel Diehl 4-HP, 1-SS; Jamie More 2-SS; Hunter Diehl 1-M and 2-M (11th/12th overall); and Luke Rizzo 3-M, 3-M (13th overall). Others in single moguls were Henry Cherp, Ben Anderson, Mikel Sanchez-DuPont, Logan Wojcik, Brian Heekin and Will Price. Others in DM were Hunter Diehl and Luke Rizzo. Others in DM were Ben Anderson, Mikel Sanchez-Dupont, Logan Wojcik and Henry Cherp.

    F4s: Addy Rafford 1-M and 1-M (7th/7th overall), 6-DM; and Katie Markthaler 3-M (11th overall). Others in single moguls were Giselle Harmon (16th overall), Katie Markthaler, Rainey Wilson (17th overall) and Eliza Marks (15th overall). Giselle Harmon, Katie Markthaler, Rainey Wilson and Eliza Marks also competed in DM.

     M5 (9-10): Harper Mallet 1-HP; George Murray 2-HP, 1-SS; Ridge Dirksmeier 3-HP, 2-SS; Joey Markthaler 3-SS, 3-M; and Toby Rafford 2-M, 3-M (23rd overall). Others in HP were Sam Ware and Adam Kind. Others in SS were Harper Mallet, Luke Higgins, Charlie Price, Dylan Mills, Adam Kind and Sam Ware. Others in single moguls were Sam Ware, George Murray, Jack Morton, Alex Austin, Adam Kind and Wilson Baker. Others in DM were Sam Ware and Toby Rafford,

     F5: Frances Cherp 3-M and 2-M (18th overall); and Amanda Brown 3-M (20th overall). Noelle LaFleur competed in single moguls and Frances Cherp in DM.

     M6 (7-8): Cole Curci 1-HP, 3-M; Lucas Carlson 1-SS; Gage Wilson 1-M; Zephyr Carruth 2-M; Caden Clifford 2-HP, 2-SS; and Ari Roberts 3-HP, 3-SS. Cole Curci also competed in slopestyle. Others in single moguls were Asher Maxwell and Lucas Carlson.

     F6: Astrid Murray 1-HP, 2-SS, 1-M and 1-M (21st overall); Maya Lightner 2-HP, 1-SS; and Ruby Crist 2-M. Astrid Murray also competed in dual moguls.
