Defendant accused of sexual abuse of a minor

Hailey police arrested an 18-year-old Bellevue man Monday morning for alleged inappropriate sexual conducted with a 14-year-old girl.
Police reported in a news release Tuesday that Riley Beck was arrested on suspicion of the felony charge of sexual abuse of a child under 16. Beck was being held without bond at the Blaine County jail, awaiting an initial court appearance later Tuesday in Blaine County Magistrate Court.
Police reported that they were alerted of the situation the evening of Friday, Feb. 21, by the girl’s mother, who told police that she discovered a message on her daughter’s Facebook page stating that the girl was going to sneak out of her house in northern Bellevue that evening and meet Beck for a sexual encounter at the “exterior portion” of Bellevue Elementary School.
The news release does not state whether a sexual encounter occurred but states that investigation and evidence collection led to Beck’s arrest.
The crime of sexual abuse of a minor does not require that an actual sex act occurred, but is charged in acts conducted against minor children when they are subjected to behavior of a sexual nature.
Police reported that they are investigating other allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior committed by Beck against other minors.
