Tanner Farrow makes Alpine Junior Worlds team

     The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association on Tuesday named a group of 16 elite athletes to compete at the 2014 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships scheduled for Feb. 26 through March 6 at Jasna Resort in Slovakia.

     Tanner Farrow, 20, of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation is one of eight men on the U.S. squad.

     Patrick Riml, U.S. Ski Team Alpine Director, said, “There is a lot of talent and drive with this young group of athletes and their NorAm results this season reflect the hard work they’ve put in to make this elite team.

     “The World Junior Championships provide a platform for these young athletes to measure that ability against the best young athletes in the world.”

     Junior Worlds schedule is:

     Wednesday, Feb. 26: Men’s super giant slalom and men’s super combined.

     Thursday, Feb. 27: Women’s giant slalom.

     Friday, Feb. 28: Women’s slalom.

     Saturday, March 1: Men’s downhill.

     Sunday, March 2: National Team Event.

     Monday, March 3: Women’s super giant slalom and super combined.

     Tuesday, March 4: Men’s giant slalom.

     Wednesday, March 5: Men’s slalom

     Thursday, March 6: Women’s downhill.

     Others on the U.S. Junior Worlds team announced Tuesday from the USSA headquarters at Park City, Utah:

     Men: Sandy Vietze, 20, of Warren, Vt. and Green Mountain Valley School; Ty Sprock, 18, of Stateline, Nev. and Treble Cone Ski Academy; Brian McLaughlin, 20, of Topsfield, Mass. and Green Mountain Valley School;

     Nick Krause, 20, of Northboro, Mass. and  Stratton Mountain School; Samuel Dupratt, 20, of Park City, Utah and the Park City Ski Education Foundation; Sam Morse, 18, of Carrabassett Valley, Maine and Carrabassett Valley Academy; and Drew Duffy, 18, of Warren, Vt. and Green Mountain Valley School.

     Women: Paula Moltzan, 19, of Lakeville, Minn. and Buck Hill Ski Team; Katie Ryan, 21, of Aspen, Colo. and Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club; Lila Lapanja, 19, of Incline Village, Nev. and Sugar Bowl Academy/Diamond Peak; Libby Gibson, 19, of Jamaica, Vt. and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail; Alice Merryweather, 17, of Hingham, Mass. and Stratton Mountain School;

     Katherine Irwin, 19, of Vail, Colo. and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail; Foreste Peterson, 20, of Berkeley, Ca. and Squaw Valley Ski Team; and
Breezy Johnson, 18, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Rowmark Ski Academy.
