Teams knotted up for Senior A hockey lead

Final season games next Tuesday

    Three of the four teams are tied for first place going into the final regular-season games of the Senior “A” Hockey League next Tuesday.
    That’s because Morgan’s Fine Finishes and Lefty’s Bar & Grill skated off with wins in Tuesday’s action at Sun Valley Skating Center.     Lefty’s Bar & Grill (6-5-0) led the whole game and got scoring from five play-ers in a 5-4 triumph over Sun Valley Auto/Grumpy’s (4-7-0).
    Ryan Enrico (1 assist), John Kearney Jr., Bobby Sloper (1 assist), Trevor Thomas (1 as-sist) and Matt Ward (1 assist) were the Lefty’s goal scorers, with Sinjin Thomas pitching in with two assists. Frank Salvoni had a three-goal hat trick for Grumpy’s. Dave Hennessy (2 assists) added a single. Derek Grimes and Tyler Davis-Jeffers added assists.
    Morgan’s Fine Finishes (6-5-0) was a 7-4 winner over Yoga College (6-5-0) in Tuesday’s other game. Morgan’s busted open a 1-1 game with a four-goal second period.
    Doug Yeates (3 assists) notched his own hat trick for Morgan’s and Eric Demment (3 assists) added a pair. Other goals for the winners came from Peter Atkinson and Aaron Prazenka (1 assist). Scoring Yoga goals were Brad Dredge (2), Tate Mills and Will Hem-mings.
    Credited with assists for Yoga were Mark Belanger, Zac Crist, David Dredge, Max Kwok, Scott Winkler, Brad Dredge and Mills.
    Final regular-season games are Tuesday, Feb. 18 with Morgan’s Fine Finishes meet-ing SV Auto Club/Grumpy’s at 8 p.m. followed by Yoga College facing off with Lefty’s Bar & Grill at 9:10 p.m.
    The Gund Cup semi-final playoffs are Tuesday, Feb. 25, narrowing teams down to the Gund Cup championship scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 on resort ice.

Feb. 4 outcomes
    Yoga College pulled out to a slim lead in the Senior A” Hockey League with a 7-3 vic-tory over Sun Valley Auto Club/Grumpy’s.
    Brad Dredge continued his hot scoring with a three-goal hat trick plus an assist for Yoga College. Other goals came from Clint Lightner (2 assists), Tate Mills (2 assists), David Dredge (1 assist) and Scott Winkler. Peter Whitehead and Max Kwok chipped in two assists each.
    Grumpy’s goal scorers were Dave Hennessy (1 assist), Frank Salvoni (1 assist) and Rian Timmons. Other assists went to Jesse Sammis, Derek Grimes and Charles Friedman.
    Goalie Pat Ballou turned in the shutout leading Lefty’s Bar & Grill (5-5-0) past Morgan’s Fine Finishes (5-5-0) by a 3-0 score in Tuesday’s other game. Mike Curry scored for Lefty’s, assisted by Trevor Thomas and Sinjin Thomas. John Kearney Jr. converted a breakaway, from Ivars Muzis. And Baba Street had an empty-netter for the winners.

Jan. 28 games
    Brad Dredge made sure that the game between Yoga College and Lefty’s Bar & Grill didn’t end in a tie Jan. 28. Dredge took a pass from Jack Weekes and tallied the game winner with one second left in the overtime period giving Yoga College a 5-4 victory over Lefty’s.
    Will Hemmings, Tate Mills, Peter Whitehead and Scott Winkler also lit the light for Yoga College. Other assists went to David Dredge, Weekes, Mark Belanger and Brad Dredge.
    John Kearney Jr. scored twice for Lefty’s to go with sin-gles by Blake King and Crist Cook (1 assist). Other assists were by Ryan Enrico, Baba Street and Matt Ward.
    Morgan’s Fine Finishes skated past Sun Valley Auto Club/Grumpy’s by a score of 3-2. Eric Demment scored twice for Morgan’s and Doug Yeates chipped in with a single. Chris Benson had two assists and Mike Punnett one.
    Charles Friedman and Vil-nis Nikolaisons put Grumpy’s on the board with the help of Rune Haavik, Dave Hennessy and Frank Salvoni.
