With snow, the Town Series is still a go

DTF gate crashers take over first place

Two things are certain about the 23rd annual Sun Valley Town Series—if it’s Wednes-day, it’s going to snow and (2), the DTF team is going to be hanging around the lead.
Wednesday, Town Series organizers had planned to change the format from best single runs to combined two-run times for one of only two occasions during the seven-week series of dual modified giant slaloms. But heavy snow during the race caused organ-izers to shorten the format to just one run on one course.
“But we had 104 racers, eve-rybody finished and nobody got hurt,” said Jen Helms of the Sun Valley Race Department.
The formidable DTF four with Miles Fink-Debray, Robin Sarchett, Max Monahan and Delaney Fox opened up a slim lead in the 31-team standings with a 0.59-point afternoon to go with its previous 0.07 score for a first-place total of 0.66.
In second place with a 0.10 day and 1.68 series total was Greatful Shred featuring John Summers, Jerry Mitchell, James Shannon and Randi Du-Bois. Team “All 4 All” with Alan Rickers, Dan Kurdy and Buffalo Lamb hung in there for third place with a 1.78 total.
Making moves for fourth and fifth place with 0.00 days in the snow were Shot Skis with Brett Jacobson, Cam Leady Tyler Corrock, Billy Cook (1.79 total) and The Kings with Joel Bernbaum, Barrett Molter, Ted Tuma and Bob Buchanan (2.40 total).
Best times from Wednesday, in seconds and hundredths:
    1—Miles Fink-Debray (DTF) 15.24. 2—Carl Rixon Jr. (SVSEF) 15.55. 3—Robin Sar-chett (DTF) 15.57. 4—Nate Schwing (SVSEF) 16.01. 5—Brett Jacobson (Shot Skis) 16.04. 6—Tyler Chandler (SVSEF) 16.05. 7—Erika Hogan (SVSEF) 16.15. 8—Matt Murphy (Tekasoreasses) 16.22. 9—John Anderson (Freestyle) 16.43. 10—John Lee (Glow Fast) 16.83.
    11—William Fallon (Stur-tevants Mountain Ferries) 16.86. 12—Alan Rickers (All 4 All) 17.06. 13—Charlotte Gour-lay (Chicks on Sticks) 17.16. 14—Steve Brown (Glow Fast) 17.17. 15—Jena Greaser (Stur-tevants Mountain Ferries) 17.47.
Rabbits in the middle of the pack of 104 racers were Penelope Murray (Freestyle) at 20.01 seconds and Cindy Smith (Cruise Hounds) at 20.03.
Town Series takes a two-week break for the Presidents’ Day holiday at the resort and reconvenes Wednesday, March 5. March’s post-race parties, all in Ketchum, are: March 5 (Grumpy’s); March 12 (Lefty’s Bar & Grill); and March 19 (Whiskey Jacques).
