    The English Beat is bringing time-tested, highly danceable rhythms to Whiskey Jacques’ in Ketchum Tuesday night, Feb. 18.
    Band leader Dave Wakeling and his all-star lineup will perform songs from their debut album from 30 years ago, “I Just Can’t Stop it,” which Rolling Stone called one of the 100 greatest debut albums of all time.
    The ska band from Birmingham, England, will play some of their chart-topping hits such as “Save it For Later,” “Mirror in the Bathroom,” “I Confess” and “Can’t Get Used to Losing You.”
    Songs from the band have appeared in numerous movies including “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Grosse Point Blank,” “Kingpin,” “50 first Dates”  and “Hot Tub Time Machine.”
    Their songs have been covered by everyone from Pete Townshend to Pearl Jam and a new album, their first in more than three decades, is due this year.
    The English Beat stormed onto the musical scene in 1979 along with The Specials and other punkish reggae-influenced bands that combined political messages with a great dance beat.
