Kudos to commissioners for monument support

The Blaine County commissioners have my thanks for their support of a Boulder-White Clouds National Monument. As a landowner in Blaine and Custer counties, I am encouraged that the commission is aware of the need to manage our landscape across geographic and political boundaries. Despite the wishes of some Idahoans, the federal government presence here isn’t going to disappear anytime soon, and I’m glad the commissioners have chosen to be active participants in the process, as we all discuss the future of this region.
As a public lands user (hunter, livestock grazing permittee, hiker and angler), I believe that such participation will lead to greater certainty for all users, whatever their interests may be. We won’t all get everything we want, but we’ve got a much better chance of something we can live with and enjoy into the future. Thanks again to all the commissioners for their courageous leadership on this contentious issue.
