Riders in Jackson Hole for USASA qualifier

SVSEF kids in action


     Snow King Resort and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort hosted United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) rail jam, slopestyle and halfpipe competition Jan. 24-26 in Wyoming.

     In the 120-rider field were seven Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Snowboard teamers. Coach Jacob Tyler accompanied the SVSEF kids for national qualifying events.

     Here are placings by class, abbreviations RJ (rail jam), SS (slopestyle) and HP (halfpipe). The rail jam classes were broken down differently, for ages 10-13 and 14-and-over:

     Open Class Women: Ali Appleton (SVSEF alumni, Westminster Univ.) 1-SS, 2-HP.

     Youth Men (ages 14-15): Clyde Montgomery 5-RJ, 5-SS, 6-HP; Landon Moore 7-RJ, 6-SS, 4-HP; J.D. Stark 5-HP. It was the first USASA event for Moore and Stark.

     Youth Women (14-15): Cora Kaiser 2-RJ, 1-SS, 1-HP.

     Breaker Boys (12-13): Elk Spencer 6-RJ, 2-SS, 2-HP; Jake Evans 17-RJ, 7-SS.

     Breaker Girls (12-13): Clara Jenner 1-RJ, 1-SS, 1-HP.
