River project would ruin natural beauty

Jima Rice has it exactly right. I’ve been a regular user of the Hulen Meadows pond area for more than 20 years. I know it very well, and I am stunned by the number of false and misleading statements made by the planners (mainly the city of Ketchum and the Land Trust) to make the river look as if it were in terrible shape and in need of vast amounts of work to rehabilitate. Baloney!
This is false advertising designed to sell the project to people who don’t know nearly enough to judge it. The only thing that is absolutely needed is excavating the pond and fixing the drop structures. A footbridge would improve access to the pond area without disturbing its naturalness. The rest is a wildly expensive Disneyland that will destroy the very thing the planners are selling—a natural environment for wildlife habitat and human enjoyment.
