Freestyle contest arrives on Dollar, Baldy

Sun Valley Freestyle Spectacular


    Over 200 entries are signed up for the third annual Sun Valley Freestyle Spectacular competition today through Sunday, hosted by the Sun Val-ley Ski Education Foundation.
    SVSEF Freestyle Prep/Devo head coach Jennifer Diehl said, “We have teams and families coming from all over the West. Slopestyle is Friday at Dollar. Competition moves to Baldy’s Roundhouse Slope for single and dual moguls Saturday and Sunday.”
    Halfpipe at Dollar Mountain kicked off the four-day event Thursday. Slopestyle is today, Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dollar. Mogul competition on Roundhouse starts Saturday at 10 a.m. Single moguls seeding is Sunday at 10 a.m., leading to the dual moguls competition.
    Diehl added, “We are grate-ful to Sun Valley Company for making snow for us so we could build a mogul course.”
    Deer Valley’s Champion Run in Utah, known as the toughest mogul course on the World Cup, hosted Intermountain Division singles and dual moguls races Jan. 18-19.
    Wilson Dunn led the SVSEF charge by winning the M3 class and finishing 19th overall. Alex LaFleur was runner up to Dunn and 20th. Other results: Brody Buchwalter 4-M4/18th overall; Wyatt Wilson 3-M1/27th; Jack Rizzo 7-M2/28th; Tobias Verheijen 6-M3/29th; and Blake Harmon 7-M3/32nd.
    Alysha Herich was third in F3 and 15th overall in ladies’ singles. Others were: Parker Nance 10-F2/18th; and Giselle Harmon 4-F4/24th. Placings in duals: 9—Buchwalter, Herich and Nance. 17—Verheijen and LaFleur.
