Judge Robert J. Elgee issued an arrest warrant after a Washington state man failed to appear for sentencing Monday in Blaine County 5th District Court.
Bond on the warrant was set at $150,000 for 59-year-old Bradley Thomas Wrigley, an ex-convict whose address is listed in court files as Tacoma, Wash. Wrigley is charged with felony grand theft, a crime he pleaded guilty to in November of 2013.
“Given Mr. Wrigley’s history of previously having served time in the penitentiary and failing to appear in other jurisdictions, his absence does not surprise me,” Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Thomas said Wednesday. “However, it will likely cause him to spend additional time in prison on this charge as well as being charged with felony bail jumping when he is ultimately captured.”
According to court records, Wrigley previously served prison time for theft in South Dakota.
The Blaine County case against Wrigley dates back to Oct. 21, 2013, when he was arrested by Sun Valley police for failing to return a car that he rented in June of that year from Hertz in Federal Way, Wash.
Sun Valley Police Chief Walt Femling reported earlier that police became suspicious of Wrigley when he was staying at a unit at the Wildflower condominiums that he told a real estate company he intended to purchase. Femling said Wrigley had lived in Sun Valley for more than a month, “misrepresenting himself as a person of wealth.”
Initially when arrested, Wrigley’s bond was set at $150,000. However, Hailey attorney Cheri Hicks, assigned as public defender, successfully had bond reduced to $5,000 in late November. Wrigley was then able to post bond and was released from the Blaine County jail.
