Coroner rules suicide in Bellevue death

Marshal says body found in an alley by passerby

Express Staff Writer

Blaine County Coroner Russell Mikel confirmed Tuesday that a man whose body was found in an alley Monday in Bellevue died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Mikel identified the victim as Jordan Tappert, 23. Mikel said Tappert had been living in Bellevue but was originally from Oregon.
Bellevue Marshal Larry Clark said the body was found at about 2 p.m. in the alley between Seventh and Eighth streets off of Pine Street in east Bellevue. He said the body was discovered by a woman driving by.
“She thought it was a mannequin when she first drove by but then she backed up and saw that it wasn’t and called us,” Clark said.
The marshal said Tappert had likely been dead about an hour when discovered. He said Tappert used a small-caliber rifle.
“He was face down in the snow and there were no other tracks around, so it was apparent it was a suicide,” Clark said.
