Enjoy beer with photography during Gallery Walk
The Sawtooth Society, Sawtooth Brewery and James Bourret of Mountain Images Gallery will celebrate the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 27, from 5-8 p.m. for Gallery Walk at Mountain Images Gallery in Ketchum.
Visitors can enjoy locally brewed beer, view the fine art photography of James Bourret and learn about the Sawtooth Society.
As a nonprofit organization committed to protecting the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, the Sawtooth Society offers memberships, programs and volunteer opportunities.
Bourret will show a series of limited-edition SNRA images available in two sizes. A donation will be made from the sale of each print to help fund the Sawtooth Society. Each image is individually signed, numbered and contains the Society’s goat watermark in the lower left corner.

New artists’ hangout to be unveiled
A new gathering spot for artists and events—called The Parlor House, on the corner of 151 Sun Valley Road at First Avenue in Ketchum—will host an open house on Friday, Dec. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. during Gallery Walk. Filmmaker and Sun Valley resident DeSiree’ Fawn will have an outdoor screening at The Parlor House with her award-winning documentary film “The Phantom Wolves of Sun Valley” at 5:30 p.m.
The Parlor House is the brainchild of Ryan Anderson and his brother Braden Jon Anderson, whose fine-art modern terrariums will be on exhibition, as well as items by other local and emerging artists.
Ryan and Braden Anderson are brothers originally from Boise. Braden is a musician, mixed-media and terrarium artist, event promoter and former Sun Valley bellman who has been living in the valley for the past two and a half years after living in Los Angeles. Ryan, the new Sun Valley postmaster, is also an artist and musician.
The brothers plan to have weekly and monthly events, which will include instrument swaps, flea market events, open-mic nights, bonfires and community gatherings. They will launch a Kickstarter campaign to obtain equipment and help make renovations for the building. SQN Sport will open a new showroom at 320 First Ave. in Ketchum, above the Friesen Gallery, for Gallery Walk. SQN Sport is a locally owned and designed active-wear company that is manufactured in the U.S.

Film screening to benefit Rotarun
“United We Ski,” a documentary about the significance of small ski areas, will be screened at the nextStage Theater in Ketchum on Thursday, Dec. 26. There will be two showings at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Half of the proceeds will support the nonprofit Rotarun ski area, just west of Hailey.
Filmmakers, brothers and ski coaches Tyler and Elliot Wilkinson-Ray are alpine race coaches at Cochran’s Ski Club in Richmond, Vt. They rallied $10,000 in community support through a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in 2012 to produce the film.
Wood River Valley connections to the filmmakers led to T-Bar Films approaching the Rotarun board about showing “United We Ski” in the Wood River Valley. Film-maker Tyler Wilkinson-Ray will be at the event.
The screening will include concessions, a raffle, and the opportunity for conversations with the filmmaker and local professional skier Will Burks.
The cost is $10, with $5 tickets available for kids at the 4 p.m. showing. Tickets can be purchased in advance at PK’s Ski & Sports, on the Rotarun website (www.rotarunskiarea.org) or at the theater on the night of the event.
New Year’s Eve party to benefit The Center
For the third year running, Sun Valley Resort and the Sun Valley Center for the Art’s Junior Patrons Circle will host the New Year’s Eve Bubbly Bash, a festive holiday celebration to benefit The Center.
Revelers will gather on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at River Run in Ketchum to enjoy free champagne from 9-10 p.m. and a midnight toast. Hollywood favorite DJ Shark—a big hit at last year’s party—will return this year with his rousing percussionists to provide the soundtrack to ring in the new year.

Join winter-tracking workshops with the ERC
Valley resident Ann Christensen will once again lead winter-tracking workshops on snowshoes for the Environmental Resource Center.
The all-ages tours will kick off with an indoor presentation about local wildlife and tips for identifying their tracks, at the ERC offices at 471 N Washington Ave. in Ketchum.
After travelling to a pre-scouted location north of Ketchum, everyone will don their snowshoes and head out for a hands-on tracking lesson. Bring a bag lunch, water, plus snowshoes, but please leave your dogs at home. Snowshoes can be rented from local outdoor shops.
Sign up for one workshop or all three. The trips are scheduled for Dec. 28, Jan. 11 and Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pre-registration is preferred, as space is limited.
