Renowned Tenor To Perform Bocelli, Groban

By EXPRESS STAFF

Cody Austin

Tenor Cody Austin will perform in a special holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley. Austin, who resides in the New York City area, will perform with the Utah Opera in “La Traviata” in January. In Sun Valley, he will sing Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban’s greatest hits. He is quickly becoming one of the most promising singing actors of his age. A 2009 graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, he sings with a voice that has been described as having “a warm, rich quality … produced with an evenness that’s rare.” He recently appeared as a guest artist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic in a concert titled “Operatic Love.” This family concert will honor the memory Sun Valley Opera co-founder Floyd McCracken, who passed away on Nov. 16 at his home in Arizona. Sun Valley Opera Executive Director Mary Jo Helmeke said, “Mr. McCracken loved the tenor voice, so this is the perfect way to honor a man who had such a profound influence on the musical life of our valley.” Austin will be available to sign CDs during a reception for him following the concert. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling Sun Valley Opera at 726-0991.
