Rose brothers left standing in Valley Club golf

Member-Member tourney on a hot weekend

In 90-degree temperatures, the brother-brother team of Steven Rose and David Rose emerged victorious in front of an enthusiastic gallery Saturday at the end of The Valley Club’s two-day Member-Member golf tournament.
Sunny and hot conditions greeted the field of 50 twosomes in six flights for the Friday and Saturday meet—40 in the men’s division and 10 in women’s category. Format was a two-person better ball, with net format for the first 18-hole round and a Chicago points format for the second round.
The top two teams in each flight advanced to the alternate shot format “shootout” that settled this year’s championships. So, 12 teams started Saturday’s five-hole shootout as one group with the high scoring teams eliminated as the holes were played.
Runner-up in the shootout was the team of Mitch August and David Sturdevant. In third place were Dave Cropper and John Galgano.
