Fireworks featured north and south

Sun Valley Resort and city of Hailey both offering shows

Spectators can once again this year enjoy fireworks shows in both the north and south valley, as Sun Valley Resort and the city of Hailey are both putting on pyrotechnic displays on the Fourth of July.
The Sun Valley display should start about 11 p.m. after the Sun Valley on Ice show. Fireworks will be launched from the resort’s Horsemen’s Center, west of the Sun Valley Lodge, adjacent to Sun Valley Road.
The Hailey show, as usual, will be launched from the football field at Wood River High School starting at about 10:25 p.m. The high school is accessed from Fox Acres Road, east of state Highway 75. Many spectators view the show from the Deerfield and Foxmoor subdivisions on the east side of Hailey.
Mike Baledge, fire marshal for the Hailey Fire Department, said there will be 525 shots, with 25 of them being “big ones” with multiple explosions.
“It’s the same show as last year; the same count,” he said.
As with the past few years, the show will be put on by Lantis Fireworks & Lasers, of Draper, Utah.
“They do a pretty good show for us,” Baledge said.
Baledge advised that people attending the show leave their own fireworks at home.
“There’s just a lot of people around there and it gets a little unsafe,” he said.
Baledge also recommended that people lighting fireworks at their homes or elsewhere for the Fourth of July be mindful of weather conditions.
“It’s going to be awful hot and dry over the holiday and people need to be careful when lighting their own fireworks,” he said.
