Conrad steps aside as WRHS girls’ soccer coach

     Wood River High School athletic director John Rade announced Tuesday that head girls’ soccer coach Jenni Conrad of Hailey has resigned from her coaching position.

     Conrad cited personal and professional time constraints for stepping aside after five seasons at the helm of one of Idaho’s most successful girls’ prep soccer programs.

     Rade said, “Her dedication, intensity, passion and work ethic towards the development of WRHS girl soccer players and the soccer program will be missed by all.”

     Conrad (67-28-5) was only the fourth head coach in the 21 seasons of Wood River girls’ soccer dating to 1993. Her 2013 squad posted a 12-7-1 record and kept alive two remarkable streaks for the program—19 consecutive 10-win seasons and 19 straight trips to the state soccer tournament.

     Her 2009 and 2010 teams won Great Basin Conference tournament championships, extending a streak of seven straight Great Basin titles for Wood River at the 4A level.

     In 2010, at Lake City, Wood River came closest to earning a state championship berth—losing to eventual runner-up Sandpoint on penalty kicks after a scoreless semi-final battle. That team outscored opponents 101-19 sparked by the school’s all-time leading scorer, Tanner Dredge.

     The Hailey athletic director didn’t elaborate on his timetable for filling the coaching position.
