Hailey police are awaiting laboratory results in a possible case of dog poisoning in the Della View area of the city.
Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Tuesday that investigation has shown that three dogs ate potentially tainted pork or chicken last week that they found in a vacant driveway. All three dogs recovered after being treated at the Sun Valley Animal Center.
The police chief said there have been no other reports of dogs getting sick in the area.
Gunter said a sample of the meat has been sent to an Idaho State Police crime lab for analysis. Furthermore, he said the person who placed the meat in the driveway has been identified.
“We have talked to the individual who placed the meat in the driveway and do not believe there are any current threats to animals at this time,” Gunter said. “It is unknown at this time whether a poisonous substance was added to this meat or not.”
