A 35-year-old man remained incarcerated Tuesday in the Blaine County jail on a felony rape charge for allegedly having an ongoing sexual relationship with an underage girl.
Pedro Ore-quispe, who has a Ketchum address, is also accused by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency of being in the United States illegally. An immigration detainer has been filed against him, which requires that he be turned over to the agency if released from jail.
Ore-quispe was formally charged with rape at an initial court appearance Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. According to court records, he pleaded not guilty. Judge R. Ted Israel appointed Hailey attorney Douglas Werth as public defender and set bond at $75,000. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 26.
Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey said Monday that Ore-quispe was arrested on Nov. 13 after the girl’s mother complained to authorities. Ramsey said the girl is now 15, but was 14 when the alleged sexual relationship began.
“This allegedly has happened several times,” Ramsey said.
