Dolan appointed Camas County judge

New magistrate will oversee cases in Blaine County

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

The Idaho 5th Judicial District announced Wednesday that Ketchum attorney Daniel Dolan has been appointed magistrate judge for Camas County.
Dolan will replace current Camas County Magistrate Judge Jason Walker, who has been appointed to a judge position in Teton County effective in January 2014.
As Camas County magistrate judge, Dolan will spend much of his time hearing cases in Blaine County. Both the Camas County and Shoshone County magistrate judges assist in Blaine County Magistrate Court because of its much higher case load.
Dolan, 59, is a longtime Blaine County resident and has practiced law in the county for 23 years. He is currently one of five attorneys or law firms that are contracted to Blaine County to provide public defender services. He is also currently a public defender in Camas County, a position he has held for 17 years.
In announcing Dolan’s appointment, Twin Falls 5th District Richard Bevin, who served as chairman of the selection commission, stated that Dolan was one of four “highly qualified” final applicants that were interviewed by the commission.
Dolan received a bachelor degree in science of forestry from Iowa State University and a Juris doctorate degree from Gonzaga University in 1979.
According to the news release, Dolan “enjoys hunting, fishing and camping and he and his wife are looking forward to moving to Fairfield.”
