School board to get new trustee Tuesday

Panel also scheduled to elect new chair at annual meeting

    Hailey resident Kathy Baker, who defeated school board Chairman Steve Guthrie in a May 21 election, is scheduled to be sworn in as a new trustee at the Blaine County School District school board annual meeting on Tuesday.
   The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the district office at 118 West Bullion St. in Hailey. The annual meeting will be followed by the school board’s regular monthly meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Also at the annual meeting, the school board will elect a new chair and vice chair.
With the defeat of Guthrie and the resignation in June of Vice Chairman Don Nurge, trustees now are Baker, Paul Bates, Shawn Bennion and Kathryn Graves.
Once new leadership is established, the board will consider reappointment of district Business Manager Mike Chatterton as district treasurer, Laurie Kaufman as clerk of the board, Adam King as district attorney and Director of Student Services Debi Gutknecht as district representative for various federal programs.
