Strangers are welcome

Get past the curb and into the coveted gardens of Bellevue

The results of the crazy summer weather have forced a lush explosion in Bellevue this year, which means a forage among its gardens will be a bountiful endeavor. Slated for Friday, July 19, from 4-8 p.m., the Bellevue Library Garden Tour will be focused in the Chantrelle neighborhood. See a half dozen gardens, enjoy wine, root beer floats, munchables and raffle items. Raffle tickets are one for $5 or three for $10 and include a whitewater rafting trip package. The tour begins at the Sun Valley Garden Center, on the northwest corner of state Highway 75 and Kirtley Street. The Chantrelle subdivision drops down into a small valley off the Big Wood River, a wooded sanctuary near the Mountain School. Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are free. They can be purchased at the garden center, Isadora, Oak Street Café, Bruce’s Automotive or the Bellevue Public Library.
