MASSV is good for the economy

As I read the complaints about MASSV, I am a little taken back. Living less than a five-minute walk from River Run, I never heard much from MASSV, definitely not enough to keep me up at night.
Also, it is absurd to think this didn’t have a positive effect on the Ketchum economy. The Thursday night before MASSV, tons of MASSV-goers were out at local establishments spending money and during the entire event local businesses were busy during the morning and early afternoon.
Also, MASSV may be billed as something for all ages but it’s not and that is clear with just a look at who the acts are and what kind of music it is but the event speaks to a young crowd that this valley needs. Many people who have lived here for years don’t want to see any change—they want to keep things as they are but Sun Valley Resort and Ketchum need to see change. We need to bring this valley into the times before we are no longer relevant and the economy that relies so heavy on outside people coming in dries up.
MASSV isn’t my thing. I didn’t go, but just because I don’t like something that isn’t for me doesn’t keep me from seeing the benefit of the event as a whole for this community.
