Food baskets need to be reserved now
Wildfires in August and prolonged economic struggles have left some people wondering if they are going to be able to fill their tables with turkey and all the fixings this Thanksgiving.
This year, the Sage School is partnering with Wood River High School, Pioneer Montessori, the Community School, the Mountain School and the YMCA to bake 350 homemade pies to accompany every Thanksgiving basket.
To request a Thanksgiving Basket, contact the Hunger Coalition before Nov. 13. Information is available at the Hunger Coalition, St. Luke’s Center for Community Health, The Advocates and at each school in Blaine County.
Please call 788-0121 or visit: thehungercoalition.org. Donations can be made by mail at 121 Honeysuckle St., Bellevue, 83313.
Thanksgiving Baskets will be given out at the Community Campus on Monday, Nov. 25, from 4-6 p.m.

Starting Nov. 7 and continuing each Thursday through the winter, the Hailey Public Library will offer Knitting and Crocheting Maker Space from 6-7:30 p.m.

Book fair this week in Hailey
The Wood River Middle School Book Fair, with books provided by Iconoclast Books, will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 6 and 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This event raises funds for the school’s library, and this year’s goals are expanding the facility’s digital collection for both research and recreational reading.
The book fair will offer a wide range of books, especially for teens but also for all ages, young children through adults, and will include the latest and most popular fiction, high-interest non-fiction, language phrase books, cookbooks, holiday books, craft books and educational games.
Puccini’s opera live in HD
Enjoy Puccini’s fast-moving operatic thriller “Tosca” on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Bigwood 4 Cinema in Hailey. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Dick Brown will give a pre-opera lecture about the production, which has been controversial with purists. He will also talk about the original play on which the opera is based beginning at 10:15 a.m. The opera begins at 11 a.m.
The power of “Tosca’s” score and the inventiveness of its orchestration have been widely acknowledged. The dramatic force of “Tosca” and its characters continues to fascinate both performers and audiences, and the work remains one of the most frequently performed operas. Many recordings of the work have been issued, both of studio and live performances.
Tickets are available at the theatre box office at $24 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $18 for students.

Family Day at The Center
The Sun Valley Center for the Arts will host a Family Day on Saturday, Nov. 9, in which participants will learn how to make their own traditional Chinese paper lanterns and tour the current gallery exhibition, “Stories of a Changing China.”
This free event will be held at The Center in Ketchum from 3-5 p.m.
