Wood River 16U’s takes 2nd Place at BPA Softball Shakedown


    The Wood River 16U softball squad traveled to Nampa for the 4th Annual BPA Softball Shakedown Tournament and came home with the 2nd place prize by going 4-3 in the tournament.
Wood River went 3-2 on Saturday to solidify its 2nd place finish. Along with finishing the summer on a high note, Wood River placed 1st in Rigby, 2nd in Boise and 3rd in Twin Falls earlier in the summer.
    The BPA Softball Shakedown was the final tournament of the year that saw outstanding defense from Ashley Hicks, Katy Howard, Brittney Bradley and Ciceley Peavey. Excellent pitching brought by pitcher Leslie Ploss and text book base running by Meghan McQueen, secured Wood River the silver.
    On base percentages for the tourney: Brittney Bradley .579, Haley Cutler, .528, Ashley Hicks .478, Chloe Evans .333, Alysha Herich .277 and Ciceley Peavey .263.  Home runs were secured by Ashley Hicks and Ciceley Peavey and triples were Ashley Hicks, Brittney Bradley and Haley Cutler.
