A Portneuf Regional Medical center spokeswoman reported that a Boise woman injured in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday northeast of Carey was in “very critical condition” on Thursday.
Danielle Watzje, 27, was flown by emergency helicopter to the Pocatello hospital after an accident that occurred at about 12:50 p.m. near the border between Blaine and Butte counties about 18 miles northeast of Carey.
Watzje was transported by the Carey Quick Response Unit to the Carey Airport where she was picked up by the emergency helicopter.
According to police radio scanner reports, Watzje was “unconscious, unresponsive and bleeding from an ear,” prior to being picked up by the helicopter.
Blaine County Sheriff’s Capt. Curtis Miller said Thursday that Watzje was eastbound on U.S. Highway 26 when she lost control of the motorcycle while exiting a curve.
“She lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown off the bike and thrown about 70 feet from where she left the roadway,” Miller said.
He further said that Watzje was wearing a helmet and riding a 2004 Honda 1300.
