Nice day for Valley Club golf finale

“Ball Buster” tourney


     The Valley Club held its final tournament event of the 2013 golf season on Saturday, Oct. 19 and called it the “Ball Buster,” featuring tee boxes designed to lengthen the course and hole locations calculated to confound even the best of putters.

     Beautiful Indian Summer conditions contributed to “lower” scores, despite the nature of the fun event that usually produces scores that are 10 to 2-0 shots higher than the players are accustomed to scoring. All seemed to enjoy the “punishment,” according to Stoney Brown, Director of Golf.

     Gross and net prizes went to individual efforts.

     Greg Fairfield won the low gross $80 prize with a fine score of 82. Peter Atkinson captured second gross with his 83. Baird Gourlay (85 gross, 78 net) won the net prize. John Wolcott (79) was second net. Leaderboard:
