Churches to offer free grief workshops

Classes begin this week

    The Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood, Calvary Bible Church and Valley of Peace Lutheran Church are teaming up to support a free 13-week grieving workshop to help people come to terms with the personal loss of a loved one.
   GriefShare, a non-denominational, Christian-based grief recovery and support group seminar program, will offer the workshops, which will be facilitated by videos of leading grief recovery teachers and a leader from the local clergy.

The workshops will begin on Thursday, Oct. 17.

   “This is an opportunity to share feelings and find support,” said Valley of Peace Lutheran Church spokesman Richard Stahl. “It is non-denominational and open to anyone who feels the need.”
   The workshops will begin on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum.
   There is no charge to participate in the program and free childcare is available upon request. The workshop sessions can be attended separately.
   “Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when well-meaning, supportive friends and family have returned to their daily life routines,” states a press release issued by GreifShare. “Past participants of GriefShare have related how helpful the information and confidential follow-up discussions in a small group were in their process of grief recovery.”
