Players needed for Laurent Perrier soccer

Coed tourney set for Aug. 17-18

Erika Connelly and Tyler Chandler want to keep the tradition alive, so they are organizing the Laurent-Perrier coed soccer tournament to be played Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17-18 at Ketchum’s Atkinson Park.
Prior to last year, the park soccer fields were the site of adult soccer tournaments in the months of July and August going back to the 1980s. But in 2012, the long 35-year run of Ketchum Classic men’s tournaments came to an end, as did the 30-year run of the Laurent Perrier women’s tournaments.
Connelly and Chandler both played for their respective teams in the final men’s and women’s tournaments two years ago. This year, they want to resurrect the meet as a coed soccer tournament. Teams from Pocatello and Jackson Hole, Wyo. have committed.
So, Connelly is looking for local intermediate and advanced players to sign up for the proposed tournament through today, Friday, Aug. 9 at Lefty’s Bar & Grill in Ketchum for a $25 entry fee.
Organizer Connelly said, “After signing up they will be placed on teams. We’ll try to make the teams as equal as we can. It would be nice to get three or four local teams. They will need to play three women at the field at all times.”
