Local skaters pass USFS tests

This summer

The Sun Valley Figure Skat-ing Club (SVFSC) hosted U.S. Figure Skating test sessions in July and August this summer.
Both test sessions were well attended, drawing singles skat-ers and ice dancers from across the nation, including many adult and professional skaters, according to Andrea Nelson, SVFSC publicity director.

    - Free Dance tests determine competitive level for ice danc-ers, except for certain solo dance events. Abby Chase passed Junior Free dance test.
    - Pattern Ice Dance tests are required prerequisite tests that ice dancers must take to be eli-gible to take the same level free dance test, and they determine competitive level for certain solo dance events.
Local coach and professional show skater Natalia Irvine passed no fewer than seven different Pattern Dance tests to complete her Pre-Gold Dance level this summer.
Coach Joel Dear passed the Austrian Waltz and Silver Samba; Abby Chase passed the Viennese Waltz and Argentine Tango; coach and professional show skater Ashley Clark passed the Quickstep, West-minister Waltz and Argentine Tango; Grace Hoffman passed the Argentine Tango; Grace Cleveland passed the European Waltz, and professional show skater Lauren Farr passed the European Waltz.
