Arthur Lee Barratt

Arthur (Art) Lee Barratt passed away on Sept. 14, 2013. Art was born Oct. 19, 1941, to Alta Maye Barratt (Worley) and Ora Earl Barratt in Kansas City, Mo. The family moved out to Bellevue, Idaho, when Art was a little boy.
Early on, Art knew he wanted to see the world and at age 17 he joined the Navy and would serve 20 years active and another 10 years in the reserves. In 1968, Art married Cheryle (Sherry) Vitale and they had one child, Maria, in 1970. Upon retiring from the Navy, Art went to work for the Postal Service in Charleston, S.C. In 1985, Art brought his family back out to Idaho to be closer to his extended family.
Later in life, Art was lucky enough to find love (again) with Peggy Cuicci. They married in May 1993 in Bellevue. Art spent the next decade camping, cooking, playing tennis, hiking, fishing, loving and living life with Peggy, until her death in December 2000.
Art has joined Peggy, his two brothers Ora Earl Jr. and Tom, as well as his sister Bonnie (Barnett). He leaves behind his daughter, Maria, and her family (husband Jim, sons Will and Michael), one remaining sister, Alta Maye Showalter (Bellevue), along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and other loved ones from Peggy’s family.
Committal ceremony was held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise on Monday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. Services were conducted by Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
