Carey, Dietrich meet in Sawtooth grid test

Panther Homecoming game is Friday

It’s a busy Homecoming week at Carey High School capped by the 2013 Homecom-ing eight-man football game against the Dietrich Blue Dev-ils Friday, Sept. 27 at Derrick Parke Memorial Field.
Opening kickoff for the match-up of Sawtooth Confer-ence West contenders is 7 p.m.
Undefeated Dietrich (4-0, 1-0 Sawtooth West) has won three road games including Friday’s 60-26 league rout at Castleford (1-3, 0-1) and is averaging 50.0 ppg. Blue Devil grid teams are 17-3 in their last 20 games and, last fall, placed third in the State 1A Division 2 playoffs.
Coach Lane Kirkland’s Carey Panthers (2-1) will be playing their first Sawtooth West game after a bye week. Carey lost 30-14 at Dietrich last year and last beat the Blue Dev-ils 60-14 at Carey in Oct. 2011.
State runner-up Lighthouse Christian (4-0, 1-0, 56.6 ppg of-fense) and Dietrich are consid-ered the top Sawtooth West teams this season. They clash Oct. 25 in Dietrich. Last Friday, Lighthouse romped 68-22 at home over Richfield (2-1, 0-1).
