Editorial didnít recognize leadersí role

In its Sept. 4 editorial critical of Sun Valley mayor Dewayne Briscoe, Councilmen Nils Ribi and Franz Suhadolnik, the Mountain Express once again failed to recognize the priorities of the city of Sun Valley and the fiduciary responsibilities the council has to Sun Valley taxpayers.
The council’s No. 1 priority is the fiscal health of the city and the safety, welfare and infrastructure issues directly affecting Sun Valley citizens, not the Sun Valley Marketing Alliance. Mayor Briscoe, and council members Ribi and Suhadolnik, have fulfilled their responsibilities to place taxpayers’ needs first, despite intense lobbying by the Mountain Express and others in support of the Sun Valley Marketing Alliance.
One can only hope that the new Sun Valley City Council, which will include incumbents not up for election, will continue to recognize that their fiduciary responsibilities are to Sun Valley citizens, not outside organizations.
