Mountain Rides adjusts to slack

Two Ketchum-Sun Valley routes suspended

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

As of Monday, Mountain Rides Transportation Authority revised its Ketchum-Sun Valley free bus service by placing two routes out of service until Thanksgiving weekend.
The suspension of routes during the fall slack season is typically done by Mountain Rides in early September. The cancellations involve Blue Route No. 2 and Red Route.
Blue Route No. 1 will continue service, running between Warm Springs and Elkhorn Village with stops in Sun Valley and Ketchum along the way. Service begins daily at 7 a.m. at the Warm Springs base and concludes each day with a final stop in Elkhorn Village at 9:30 p.m. Suspension of Blue Route No. 2 means bus service will occur on the hour rather on the half hour.
The Red Route serves the southern Elkhorn area with trips into Ketchum. The route primarily serves part-time residents and has been discontinued during tourist slack periods for the past year.
Notices regarding the scheduled changes were posted at bus stops on Monday.
All other Mountain Rides routes, including the Green Route in the Ketchum area, the Valley Route running between Bellevue and Ketchum and the Hailey Circulator Route will operate as usual.
