Miller tastes Vancouver’s SeaWheeze breeze

A relative newcomer to the West, Ketchum’s Heather Miller is getting a good taste of the West Coast, and she learned more about the great international city of Vancouver, B.C., Canada earlier in August.

Third-year Wood River High School girls’ cross country coach Miller, 39, took part in the Lululemon’s SeaWheeze half-marathon run at Vancouver Saturday, Aug. 10 and finished 55th of 8,423 women with a final time of 1.37:19.

“I was pretty happy with that 1.37:00 time,” said Miller. The top female time was 1.20:35.

Miller was 170th overall out of 10,147 runners on the 21.1-kilometer (13.1-mile) course that started and finished at Vancouver Convention Centre. The course wound its way through Stanley Park.

Two days of SeaWheeze activities for racers include sunset yoga sessions overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Kitsilano beach and at Stanley Park.

Miller, originally from Homer, N.Y. near Ithaca, studied at the State University of New York at Geneseo and at Rhode Island College and first came to Idaho on a road trip three years ago. She is a two time Boston Marathon finisher who ran her first marathon in Paris, France in 1995.
