‘Brilliant Traces,’ a romantic dramedy,
set for the nexStage Theatre
The nexStage Theatre is excited to announce its fall production, “Brilliant Traces” by Cindy Lou Johnson, starring local actress Charlotte Hemmings and New York actor Chris Wendelken, directed by Jon Kane.
“Brilliant Traces” opens at the nexStage Theatre, 120 South Main St. in downtown Ketchum, on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m., and runs through Sunday, Sept. 8.
On the opening night of this new production Sept. 4, there will be reduced-cost ticket prices and complimentary champagne cocktails at the pre-show party in the lobby. Tickets are available by calling 726-4TKS or at the theatre box office weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The romantic ‘dramedy’ was first produced by the Circle Repertory Co. in New York in 1989 and has since been presented by many of the nation’s top regional theaters to critical acclaim.
The New York Times wrote that the play “deals with common issues of love and family, and does so with characters, story and dialogue so fantastic that they could exist only within the enchanted realm of the stage.”

‘Wine Down’ on Wednesdays at the garden
Wind down tonight, Aug. 28, while listening to the sounds of the Wood River Community Orchestra for its performance in its summer home at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden south of Ketchum.
Bring a picnic, blankets and refreshments to the garden at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy music from 6-7 p.m. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.
Donations that evening will be divided equally to support the missions of the Sawtooth Botanical Garden and the Wood River Community Orchestra.
Experience the re-vitalization of the Sawtooth Botanical Garden for the rest of summer and fall by visiting the newly redesigned perennial garden and gift shop, and see progress as they begin to build a new event gazebo, an English knot garden and other additions.
Visitors can be inspired by the 800-pound bronze prayer wheel, the only one of its kind in the U.S., donated to the garden to commemorate the visit of the Dalai Lama. It is filled with a million hand-written prayers of peace.

Brian Boitano event rescheduled
The Sun Valley Figure Skating Club has announced that the Cooking with Brian Boitano event is rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m.
Boitano will travel to Sun Valley to offer his cooking skills to raise money for the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club.  He has traveled all over the world for skating competitions, and he is fascinated with other cultures and their cuisine. He now finds the same deep fulfillment in cooking and entertaining that he once found in figure skating. His adventures abroad influence his own style of cooking, as does his Italian heritage. Some of Boitano’s favorite food memories revolve around family get-togethers, and his cookbook includes personal vignettes and dishes that are inspired by memorable family recipes.
The event was originally scheduled for this month but was canceled due to the Beaver Creek Fire. Tickets are available on the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club website, located at: www.sunvalleyfsc.com, or call the office at 622-8020.
